Interim
Payments
If
the other side admits liability but fails to agree with the amount of
compensation you are claiming you may be able to receive some money in
advance. This is known as an Interim Payment. The Court (or further
negotiations) will then
decide how much more you should receive in final settlement of your claim
for damages.
Sometimes
an interim payment is necessary because more information is needed
before the full amount of your compensation could be determined. For
example, your doctors might require more time before they are able to
give a prognosis as to how your injuries would affect your
future lifestyle.
An
interim payment can help you pay for private hospital fees or any special
equipment you may require because of the accident.
Your
solicitor is able to apply for this on your behalf.
